The story of Kroiss Pipes
The first contact
I bought my first pipe just over 10 years ago during my time at university, out of pure curiosity. I always associated pipe smoking with something very cozy and peaceful, which fascinated me. Unfortunately, the starter set I bought was neither suitable for beginners nor of good quality. After a few fillings with strongly flavored tobacco, I lost interest in it.

Enjoyment
A few months later, I couldn't stop thinking about trying again. I bought my first briar pipe from Vauen and chose a milder, lighter flavored tobacco. And after a few attempts, the experience finally lived up to my expectations. The taste, the scent, the conscious taking of time and the entire ritual of pipe smoking thrilled me more and more with each pipe filling.
Corona & the idea
Over time, more and more pipes and tobaccos were added, which eventually became expensive and also caused some criticism at home. So I came up with the idea of making my own pipes. When the Corona pandemic hit, I had a lot of time to research information and instructions on the Internet. In mid-2021, in a somewhat cocky mood, I decided to set up a small workshop and ordered a metal lathe. The numerous YouTube videos from well-known pipe makers such as J. Alan or Former made it seem easy. However, this impression quickly changed when I stood at the lathe for the first time and felt completely overwhelmed.

My first own pipe
Looking back, you could say that the investment in the workshop was probably a bit hasty. Phases of frustration and regret followed, and many wooden blocks were lost. But I learned valuable lessons from every mistake, and at the end of April 2021 my first homemade pipe was created. From that moment on, I was completely thrilled. Pipe making developed into a great hobby for me alongside smoking, and I still enjoy watching my progress.
Great passion
I have now been completely captivated by this unusual hobby for over three years and I am happy every time I can go into my workshop, light a pipe, pick out a block of wood and forget everything around me.
